Learning to See & Start Painting

How it works
We start each ZOOM SESSION by checking the HOMEWORK from the previous Module. Then, Oana takes everyone through the curricula by explaining all the basic concepts behind the process of making a good drawing and she is drawing for everybody, using a digital tablet or drawing straight on the paper, using a second camera. Through her process, she is showing you the exact steps to make of all shapes and forms that are around us. In the meantime, you are invited to draw in your “holy sketchbook” and pay attention to the explanations and demonstrations. At the end of each meeting, you will have a short Q&A session, so the meeting will not end until everybody has the clarifications on the subjects assigned for that Module.
THE HOMEWORK
“Practice Makes Perfect”. Every week is loaded with a number of homeworks designed to get you from a beginner state to a super artist. For each subject in the modules, there are specific tasks that has to be done by the students at home, in the days prior to each zoom session. This part of the course is hugely important! If you don’t put the hours of practice and dedication, you will go through this course like watching a show on Netflix, and that can be interesting, but it doesn’t get the results!
WHO IS Oana Năstăsache
Oana Nastasache (b. 1991) is a Romanian visual artist, living and working in Cluj-Napoca. Working primarily in large-scale formats, her abstract compositions explore layers of emotion, movement, and material presence. Her practice is rooted in an ongoing investigation of painting as a language of expression. Oana holds a Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD in Fine Arts from the University of Art and Design in Cluj-Napoca, where she developed an in-depth research into the expressive potential of painting.
She has been actively exhibiting since 2012, participating in numerous group exhibitions as well as several solo shows presented in galleries and museums across Romania and internationally. Her work has been recognized in national and international competitions, including an award at Jeune Création Européenne (JCE), which led to her participation in a traveling exhibition across multiple European countries. Alongside her artistic practice, Oana is also engaged in teaching and mentoring, conducting workshops that focus on the creative process and the experiential dimension of painting.
